Selling Off Osimhen will be emotional — De Laurentiis

March 2nd, 2024

Aurelio de Laurentiis, president of Napoli, acknowledged that both he and the team will be deeply affected by the sale of Victor Osimhen.

The Nigerian forward is poised to depart the defending Serie A champions in the summer as Arsenal, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly lining up a bid for the player. The new deal he signed last summer had a release clause of between €120 and €130 million.

There’s a release clause for Osimhen. What a large sum of money. During the FT’s Football Business Summit, De Laurentiis stated, “Money is Napoli’s latest problem.”

“We will carry on making wise purchases as we have in the past.

“Every time a player leaves, it’s like saying goodbye to a child, but at the same time, you’re happy even when he achieves success elsewhere,” the player said. “The problem is only sentimental, only emotional.”
