Abducted PDP chairman regains freedom

Philip Aivoji, the Peoples Democratic Party’s state chairman for Lagos, who was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen last week along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, is back at liberty.

Four days after his Thursday abduction, Aivoji was freed. On Thursday, January 25, the politician and a few other party leaders were kidnapped at the Ogere section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as they were leaving the party’s Stakeholders’ Zonal Caucus meeting, which was called by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and held in the state capital of Ibadan.

The command of the Ogun State Police revealed his release. Aivoji was freed early on January 29 and was reunited with his family, according to a statement issued by the leadership.
