Newly-elected Liberian president whisked off podium after suffering “heat-induced faintness” during his inauguration ceremony

Joseph Boakai, the recently elected president of Liberia, was quickly removed from the podium following his inauguration ceremony due to “heat-induced faintness”.

On Monday, January 22, 2024, Boakai, 79, was delivering his acceptance speech when he abruptly stopped.

His assistants united in support of him, and one even used a piece of paper to fan him.

Later, in Monrovia, the capital of the country, he was led off the podium.

According to a statement from the president’s office, Boakai had experienced tiredness, but physicians later deemed him to be “perfectly fine.”
