Nollywood veteran Mr. Ibu passed away. The actor was sixty-two years old, true name John Okarfor. Numerous accounts from people close to him claim that the seasoned comic passed away in Evercare Hospital. In their condolences, many admirers have recalled the films in which the late actor starred.
It’s still unclear what exactly caused the death and how reliable these reports are. The family and representatives of Mr. Ibu have not yet made any public comments.
Since October 2023, the actor has been dealing with health problems, and he has had several surgeries that resulted in the amputation of his leg. In November, though, family reports suggested he was on the mend.
Less than a day has passed since the passing of veteran Nollywood actor Quadri Oyebamiji, better known by his stage name Sisi Quadri.
In 2019, Mr. Ibu claimed that, as a result of his lucrative career, his kinsmen had paid several of his domestic workers to poison him.
The comedian claimed to have been poisoned a third time in May 2022.
In an interview with Vanguard Newspaper, Okafor said that although God had revived him, he was already “seeing people on the other side.”
He declared, “Those who despise me are the ones who caused my illness.” They treated me the way they did. I was brought to the hospital later. The medical professionals are seers. They then entered my system and informed me of the issue and their plan of action. “Whatever you are going to do, please do it. Let me live. The enemies will laugh if I die like this.” The physicians then declared, “Okay, there’s no problem.”
To honor the actor, a number of well-known Nollywood personalities have lit candles and posted a message on his behalf.
