Italian rally champion, Giulia Maroni ‘dies after plummeting 164 ft

Italian rally champion Giulia Maroni reportedly fell 164 feet to her death while walking her dog in the Apennines of Modena.

The 37-year-old was walking her dog with her partner Simona Panzacchi on Sunday afternoon when she allegedly slipped and fell down the mountainside.

Ms. Maroni was hiking on the Libro Aperto mountain in the Pizzo dei Sassi Bianchi area when she fell 164 feet and hit trees and rocks. It is reported that.

Maroni’s partner is said to have alerted the emergency services, who arrived at the scene and transported the rally driver by plane to Maggiore Hospital in Bologna.

Ms. Maroni arrived at the hospital and was treated, but she died on the evening of Sunday, January 28th.

Mountain Rescue Director Nicolas Barattini told local media: “Unfortunately, it quickly became clear that the woman’s condition was very serious,” adding: “This was a tragic accident. ” he added. The woman (Maroni) placed her foot incorrectly and slipped.
