Ime Bishop Umoh, better known by his stage name Okon, is a well-known comedian, master of ceremonies, comedian, and Nollywood humorous actor. He is regarded as one of the most well-liked comic actors from Nigeria in Nollywood. He was born on July 15, 1981, in the southern Nigerian region of Ikot Nsit-Ibom, Akwa Ibom State. As of right now, he is 42 years old.
His birthplace is Ikot Nsit-Ibom Local Government Area, situated in the southern region of Nigeria’s Akwa Ibom State. Ime Bishop earned his West African Senior School Certificate and First School Leaving Certificate after completing his primary and secondary schooling in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, in the southern region of Nigeria.
After completing his primary and secondary school education, Ime Bishop proceeded to University of Uyo in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy. He started acting right from a very tender age and participated in many dramatic and theatre clubs.
Ime Bishop began attending film auditions and performing in small roles in films after she joined the Nigerian film industry (Nollywood) in 2007. Ime Bishop became well-known in 2008 after starring in the Emem Isong-produced Nollywood blockbuster “Uyai,” an indigenous film.
Ime Bishop rose to fame in 2011 when he starred in the Emem Isong-produced Nollywood blockbuster film “Okon Lagos.” This role earned him the nickname “Okon,” which some mistakenly believed to be his real name. He claimed that the well-known film producer Emem Isong was the one who cast him in the role that made him famous.

Alongside other prominent Nollywood comic actors, he primarily appears in comedic films with John Okafor, Chiwe Ntaluagu, Charles Inojie, Dede One Day, Victor Osuagwu, Charles Awurum, Nkem Owoh, Funke Akindele, Mercy Johnson, and others. Ime Bishop is a married woman with two lovely children at the moment.
He met his wife “Idara Saviour” at a wedding ceremony in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria in which he was officiating as a master of ceremony (MC). On 17th October 2013, Ime Bishop got married to Idara Saviour at the Insight Bible Church Uyo, Akwa Ibom State in the south southern part of Nigeria. The wedding was a hot cake which took place in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria with many celebrities and dignitaries in attendant. The marriage is currently blessed with two lovely kids.
Ime Bishop is currently a brand ambassador for GLO Nigeria. In 2016, he was appointed as a special assistant to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Gabriel Emmanuel on Ethical and Social Reorientation. According to him, his role model is Nkem Owoh.
Ime Bishop in the cause of his acting career has won several awards which include Best Comic Actor in Nigeria at the Africa Movie Academy Awards, Comedy Movie of the Year at the 2012 Best of Nollywood Awards, Comedy of the Year at the 2013 Best of Nollywood Awards, Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the Nollywood Movies Awards, Best Comedy of the Year at the 2014 Best of Nollywood Awards, Comic Actor of the Year (English) at the Nigeria Teen Choice Awards, Best Actor in a Comedy at the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards and Best Comic Actor in Nigeria at the 2017 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.
