Malaysia’s new billionaire king: Tycoon Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar, 65

There is a new billionaire monarch in Malaysia who enjoys flaunting his money on the internet.

Under a rotating monarchy system that sees the rulers of nine Malaysian states take turns serving as kings for five-year terms, Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar, 65, was sworn in as the country’s new king this morning.

The Yang Di-Pertuan Agong, also referred to as “He Who is Made Lord,” is the new monarch. Bloomberg estimates that his estate is valued at approximately £ 4.5 billion, but it is believed that his true wealth is far more.

His vast economic empire includes telecoms, power plants, real estate, and more. In addition, he owns substantial assets in real estate abroad and shares in numerous other businesses.

The King, who commands an army of his own, possesses 300 luxury vehicles, including a private aircraft fleet and one rumored to have been a gift from Adolf Hitler.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, members of the Cabinet, and other members of the royal family witnessed Ibrahim, the ruler of Johor state, take the oath of office at the royal palace.

With more than 20 groups fighting for control of the country’s politics, Sultan Ibrahim has made it obvious that he intends to control MPs and establish stability.


Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah of Pahang state, who oversaw a turbulent period marked by COVID-19 lockdowns and two fallen regimes, was succeeded by the current king.

Since Malaysia’s independence from Britain in 1957, nine ethnic Malay state governors have alternated as king for five-year terms, according to Mail Online. This is the only system of its kind in the world.

Only nine of Malaysia’s thirteen states are home to royal families.
