Residents of the Adamo vicinity of Ikorodu, Lagos State have nabbed an Islamic cleric identified as Babalola for possession of a human cranium.
An X user, named Uncle Deji @DejiAdesogan, reported on Saturday, January 20, 2023, that the cleric was arrested alongside 4 more other suspects on Thursday and were handed over to the police.
A resident, simply identified only as Ayo, revealed to newsmen that Babalola is the Chief Imam Adamo Central Mosque.
Furthermore, one other resident and eyewitness disclosed that one of the suspects was caught with the human cranium and he thereby confessed that he was working for his principal, Imam Babalola.
“I have known the Imam for more than 5 years and this is a man the complete neighborhood is standing behind to pray, a person that most of us are seeking up to,”
the source reported.
“People caught one of his males with the head and some human parts, and he confessed that he was holding them for the Imam. This was when the folks stormed the Imam’s residence and arrested him together with 4 of his men,”
the source added.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command has commended residents of the Adamo vicinity of Ikorodu for apprehending the suspects.
A spokesperson for the state police command, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a submit on X on Saturday, assured the residents that justice would be attained.
“We commend the good folks of Ikorodu for doing the correct factor and not yielding to jungle justice. We will determine justice is done,”
Hundeyin reported whereas retweeting the submit by an X user, @DejiAdesogan, about the incident.
