January 21st, 2024

Four suspects are being held by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps’ Abia State Command for running an illicit refinery within the state.

The arrest, according to state Commandant Usman Alfadarai, is “a major boost in the overall fight against all forms of vandalism of critical national assets and infrastructure, illegal dealing in petroleum products and related economic sabotage against our nation, Nigeria.” The arrest was made following a 48-hour sustained surveillance within and around Obiakpu, Obuzo-Asa, in the Ukwa West area of Abia State.

Alfadarai furthermore says:

This action, which was taken just one week after I assumed leadership of Abia State, is a clear warning to the vandals to either change their ways or leave the state because the corps would not tolerate it.
