Prince Jide Kosoko was born on January 12, 1954, is a Nigerian actor, film director, and producer. He is mainly known for his acting in Yoruba movies where he plays the main character. Jide Kosoko, a prince of royal blood, hails from Lagos State, Nigeria. Prince Jide was born to Prince Lasisi Kosoko and during his childhood attended Yaba University of Technology, where he studied business administration. He also attended the Lagos School of Drama (Theater Arts).
Prince Jide Kosoko is also a writer, editor and management consultant. He started his acting career in the Nollywood film industry at the young age of 10 years. That was in his 1964.
He got his big break into the Nigerian film industry with his 1983 movie titled Taxi Driver. Since then, he has appeared in many Nigerian films, especially Yoruba films. One of the most popular movies he starred in was Makanjuora. According to the actor, his acting has always been his passion.
He has worked with many acting organizations like Awada Kerkeli Group.
Prince Jide Kosoko, a polygamist, is married to four wives (though they are Christians), but only two of them survive. According to him, he lost both his wives within 11 months due to complications during his childbirth. He is currently blessed with 14 children, some of whom are actively involved in the Nollywood film industry.
Jide Kosoko has received numerous awards for excellence in recognition of his achievements in the field. One of them was his “Special Award” at the City People Movie Awards four years ago. Currently, in addition to being an actor, he is also an ambassador for many brands here in Nigeria.
