Troops kill notorious terrorists’ leader, rescue 20 victims in Zamfara

In Zamfara State, the soldiers of Joint Task Force North West Operation HADARIN DAJI have freed twenty hostages and eliminated a well-known terrorist leader known only as Sainaje.

In a statement released on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, Captain Yahaya Ibrahim, the Information Officer for Operation HADARIN DAJI, stated that the rescued victims—four men and fourteen women, along with children—were given to the proper authorities so they could be reunited with their families.

The statement said, “In continuation with the dry season clearance operations in its Areas of Responsibility in Zamfara state, the troops of the Joint Task Force North West Operation HADARIN DAJI have recorded another success against the terrorists.”

“In the recent success, the troops rescued 20 kidnap victims unhurt and neutralized 2 terrorists including a notorious terrorists’ leader identified as Sainaje from Katsina state in a separate operations conducted in Zamfara state.

The terrorists’ enclaves at Rukudawa, Dumburum, Tsanu, Birnin Tsaba, Magare, and Shamushalle general areas of Zurmi and Birnin Magaji LGA of Zamfara state were cleared by OPHD soldiers on January 29, 2024, as part of their ongoing clearance operation.

“All of the terrorists’ found enclaves, including the one belonging to infamous terrorist mastermind Sule, were destroyed during the operation as the terrorists left their camps amid intense fighting with the hostile soldiers.

“The military killed two terrorists, including the terrorist leader Sainaje from Katsina state, which allowed 18 abduction victims—14 females and 4 males—as well as children to be freed.

In a similar vein, Operation HADARIN’s highly motivated soldiers, whose prompt action resulted in the rescue, freed two hostages who had been kidnapped by terrorists while traveling along the Shinkafi-Isa road in Zamfara state.

“The proper authorities received all of the rescued victims and will reunite them with their relatives.

“General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Godwin Mutkut, Commander Joint Task Force North West Operation HADARIN DAJI, has commended the troops’ efforts for their continued doggedness and resilience in an effort to restore normalcy in the Northwest.”
