Gun Battles Erupt in Osogbo as Amotekun, Police, and Hunters Confront Armed Robbers: Three Dead, Five Injured

In a daring midnight showdown, a gang of armed robbers clashed with powerful security forces including Amotekun, the police anti-cult squad and local hunters, throwing the quiet town of Osogbo into chaos.
A fierce gunfight erupts at the Dangote Integrated Steel Rolling Mill, where criminals are planning a daring robbery.

This incident was triggered by a 911 call from the company’s Chief Security Officer (CSO) reporting a break-in. The Amotekun Anti-Cult Squad responded quickly and was on the scene in collaboration with the Police Anti-Cult Squad and local hunters. As they approached, the armed robbers were unwilling to give in and opened fire on the security personnel, resulting in a fierce and dangerous gunfight.

Amid the chaos, a joint operation succeeded in arresting five of the armed robbery suspects, all of whom sustained gunshot wounds during the encounter. Tragically, three of the robbers died at the scene from their wounds sustained in the gunfight. The body of the deceased assailant was taken to the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.

The five arrested suspects are Adepoju Abduletev (18 years old), Rashid Hamed (20 years old), Riadi Afeez (20 years old), Wasiu Sodiku (21 years old), and Rabiu Lekan (28 years old). The Osun Amotekun Corps, Brigadier General Bashir Adewinbi, commended the joint efforts of security forces and hunters in responding quickly to the distress call. He highlighted the successful outcome of coordinated operations to ensure the protection of lives and property in the face of serious security threats.
