Abuja airport road blocked, many stranded as truck crushes female journalist to death

Along the always-busy airport route Lugbe, Abuja, radio broadcaster Deborah Ohamara was crushed inside a moving vehicle by a heavy-duty truck filled with sand.

Although the accident’s specifics are still unclear, it was learned that Ohamara, a driver from the airport axis, was struck from behind by a car and collided with the moving truck. She works for Naija Info FM, 95.1 Abuja.

The truck driver lived, and one other individual received minor injuries.

The incident, which happened on Monday, January 15, 2024, by 3 p.m. near the well-known Aso Estate junction Lugbe, also resulted in heavy traffic congestion, which made it challenging for commuters to use the route.

Vehicles on both sides of the highway were reported to be trapped.
