Unknown gunmen murdered Kwara monarch, abduct his wife and two others

Daredevil gunmen killed General Segun Aremu (rtd), the community’s traditional ruler, on Thursday night, February 2, when they broke into the palace of Olukoro of Koro in the Ekiti local government area of Kwara State.

The monarch’s murder and the kidnapping of three other people, including his wife, have been verified by the state authorities.

Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor’s chief press secretary, signed the statement, which says

Abdul Rahman AbdulRazaq, the governor of Kwara State, has denounced the assassination of Olukoro of Koro in the Ekiti Local Government, HRH retd General Segun Aremu. According to reports, the monarch was shot dead in his palace on Thursday night by unidentified gunmen, who also took his wife and two other people. The governor denounced the development, calling it heinous, frightening, and reckless. He tasked the security services to utilize all available means to find the offenders, release the spouse and any other people who had been detained, and prosecute them.

We will undoubtedly apprehend the offenders and make sure that this is their final act of transgression against humanity. My sincere sympathies are with the residents of Koro. Our hearts are broken, and we stand by them at this time and always,”
