On Thursday, February 1, American actor Alec Baldwin will appear in court on charges of involuntary manslaughter following his unintentional shooting death of a camerawoman on a movie set.
Although he will only appear digitally, the 65-year-old actor is expected to be formally charged on February 1 in the First Judicial District Court of New Mexico.
The movie actor, whose real name is Alexander Rae Baldwin, was charged on January 19 after a grand jury decided to prosecute him.
On the set of his disastrous Western picture Rust, Baldwin shot and killed cameraman Halyna Hutchins with a pretend gun loaded with live rounds.
He was indicted by the grand jury for the October 21, 2021, shooting incident’s irresponsible use of a firearm and disrespect for other people’s safety.
If found guilty, he could serve up to 18 months in prison; however, the earlier accusations, brought by prosecutors in New Mexico, were dropped in April of last year.
Baldwin has consistently said that he complied with gun safety regulations and that whoever gave him the rifle with a live cartridge in it was at fault.
Her excitement for the case was misunderstood by Baldwin’s staff as a desperate attempt to further her own career.
A special prosecutor was assigned to take over the case after Carmack-Altwies resigned from it after arguing the case with his team in the court of public opinion.
This group decided not to press charges against Baldwin because he had already reached a settlement in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Hutchins’ family.
