Two policemen shot dead by gunmen at checkpoint in Ondo

Two policemen have been reportedly killed in Ondo state. The incident, which was confirmed by the Ondo State Police command was said to have occured at a checkpoint they were deployed to.

In his statement, the Ondo State Police spokesperson, Femi Joseph revealed that the incident occurred on Monday February 17 at a checkpoint along Irele-Ajagba road in Irele local government area of Ondo State.

It was further garthered that the bandits met the policemen at a checkpoint along Ode Irele-Ajagba Road, in the Irele Local Government Area of the state and opened fire on them, which resulted in the death of two policemen and left one policeman injured.

It was also confirmed that the injured police officer has been rushed to the hospital following the aattck.
Joseph further revealed that a manhunt has been launched to ensure the assailants face the wrath of the law.
He said;

“It is very sad and unfortunate for the command, losing our men just like that. An investigation has commenced, we will do everything to get the bandits arrested and face the wrath of the law.”
